Springbok - watercolour 36cm x 26cm on Saunders 300gsm rough
It's been a while since I painted a watercolour of an animal
and this springbok appealed to me
for a number of reasons.
The colours in the shadows and the
transitions from the light underbody
to the upperbody allowed me to
practice some wet in wet -
and then there was all that high grass -
veld I think it's called in South Africa.
A serene way to ease into
the art challenges that 2011 promises to bring.
