Sunfish - beaten steel sheet and rolled stainless steel hoop - approx 140cm x 140cm
This is an example of what can be achieved with a home made helve hammer, some sheet steel and time on your hands. These large fish are seasonal down the east coast of Australia and often swim just below the surface. They sometimes meet yachts in the Sydney- Hobart yacht race, held at years end, with devastating results for both fish and yacht. My version is probably about half life size
BTW - if you're in Adelaide on Tuesday 4th August why not pop in to the Royal South Australian Society of Arts Gallery at about 12noon. I'll be demonstrating clay sculpture by modelling a small animal figurine and talking about the process of clay modelling, casting mounting and the like.
